How To Save Videos Taken in Content Warning To The Steam Deck
Step 1:
Switch to Desktop mode.
Step 2:
Locate “Content Alerts” which you will find in the Steam library, click “Manage” and then click “Browse Local Files”
Step 3:
Right-click “Content Warning.exe” and click “Add to Steam.
Step 4:
Find ‘Content Warning.exe‘ in your Steam library and click ‘Properties‘.
Then go to “Compatibility” and click on “Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool” and set it to “Proton Experimental“.
Step 5:
Open the game, let it load, then close it again.
Step 6:
Navigate to the ‘/home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/’ directory, right click and set it to Sort by Modified.
This will bring up the Content Warnings folder at the bottom.
Step 7:
Play the game, save the video and it should save to this directory in ‘/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Desktop‘
– Will it affect my game in any way?
After 5 hours of playing after doing this, I didn’t experience any issues at all.
It still lets you play with and invite other people, it still counts game time against the game, it shows people on your friends list that you’re playing Content Warning, and updates don’t break it.
Unless they update the game to store the videos in ‘/home/deck/desktop/’ then I don’t think there is any other way to get the videos.
If you already have save locations in the game, they won’t show up when you use “Content Warning.exe” in your Steam library and you’ll need to change your keys.
