All Equipable Items in Left 4 Dead 2 – So I think it goes without saying that at some point you’ll be collecting items in this game.
All Equipable Items in Left 4 Dead 2
It doesn’t matter what it is, you’ll probably pick it up.
So let’s start with the 3 categories of items you can equip in Left 4 Dead 2.
Health and Ammo Upgrades.
It’s simple, first aid kits are used to heal yourself or allies and can be used to fully recover the number of times you can be encapsulated.
(3 in total, a third lead to your death) Defibs are used to bring in dead survivors (unless they fell after hanging from the cliff, in which case they will be ragdolls and can no longer be brought back with debris.) and ammo packs are used to deliver temporary ammo to you and your team (bullet shards explode and stun infected and have a small blast radius and projectiles ignite zombies and insta-kill regular infected)
Grenades
There are a total of three grenades in the game: Pipe Bombs, Molotovs and Bile Jars.
Temporary Health Items.
Painkillers are used for quick health boosts and adrenaline shots are used for massive speed boosts, but the health benefits they provide don’t last forever.
First Aid Kits
First Aid Kits are the main way you can restore your health in Left 4 Dead 2.
Most commonly found in Safe Rooms and Medicine Cabinets, Med Kits can restore 80% of your current HP by equipping them and holding LMB (M1 ).
If you equip it and hold RMB (M2) while looking at teammates, you can heal them instead!
TIPS
1. Try to save them as long as possible, especially on higher difficulties.
2. First aid kits can be used to go from black and white (critical health) back to normal, which can reset the number of times you can be encapsulated.
3. Bots will try to heal you if you get low level. To prevent this, hold any healing item and they will stop. Annoying but useful to know.
Defibrillators
Defibs are one of three ways dead players can come back to life.
The 3 ways are saving from a closet, respawning after completing a chapter, or defibbing.
When using the defibrillator, you will see an outline of all dead players in red.
Interacting with a teammate’s corpse with a defib will put you into an animation and at the end your ally will return to a zombie infested hell!
Keep in mind that returning players have to pick up all their lost loot and will only have 50% HP, but you’ll be at the capped limit, meaning you don’t have to worry about dying again for a while.
(Happy example, but I’m sleep deprived and trying to rush it.)
Ammo Update / Pack
There are two different types of ammo upgrades: Frag rounds which give your weapons a small burst buff and one shot common infected with the added effect of stun all special infected (except tanks.) and fire rounds which are also common to one shot. and light the Special Infected for a short time.
They can be used once per person and will expire after all 4 survivors have used them.
Pipe Bombs
Pipe bombs are a classic and you should know what they are if you’ve ever made the mistake of insulting a furry online (Seriously, don’t suck like me.)
Pipe bombs will beep for about 5 seconds and attract any common infected and exploding. The timing of this right can even stun a tank!
Molotovs
A classic cocktail with a big kick! It’s an easy-to-use item: Simply throw it and watch everything coming from that direction catch fire! Maybe next time they shouldn’t stand next to a flame that burns hotter than the sun in mid-July! Ha!
(These are the curses of tanks. Do you see a tank? YOU LIGHT UP THE MOTHER********)
Bile Jar (P U K E)
If you are new to Left 4 Dead then you are probably thinking; “Onion, what the hell is a bottle of vomit going to do to save my ass from zombies?” My newbie friend, let me explain the absolute game changing grenade that everyone loves!
Boomers are the type of enemy that vomits on survivors, which attracts a horde to pick on that one survivor.
Bile Jars are modified versions of vomit that have been redesigned to make the infected follow each other or run to a certain part of the map.
(Yes, you can use them on tanks to slow them down!)
This effect will last for 15 seconds before it wears off, so make sure you move your butt once the glass breaks. As an added bonus, if used on a player controlled by an infected in Versus mode, that player will be blinded as if they had survived! Talk about a taste of your own medicine…yikes…
Painkillers
Pills are a good way to stay healthy if there are no medical kits around.
Restores 50% of your HP with temporary health that degrades over time.
When taking damage, your REAL health will be affected first, not your temporary health.
(Something to note: Going below 39 HP will make you slow and going below 2 HP will slow you to creep. Avoid this at ALL COSTS!!!)
Equip pills and press RMB (M2) while looking at allies to give them pills instead.
Get the heroin! Erm hehe, I mean adrenaline! Ellis, left 4 speed 2
So this goofy lil shot gives you 30 temp HP and boosts your speed for a few seconds.
Zombie hits won’t slow you down and you’ll have infinite thrust (No cooldown.)
You’ll also perform all actions twice as fast! Collecting survivors, rebooting genes, healing and much more.
The only downside is the tunnel vision effect and the inability to determine where the sounds are coming from.
Equipping and pressing RMB (M2) while looking at a survivor will give it to them instead.
Always share your needles with friends..
(The tunnel vision effect around the edge of the screen, along with all sounds are muffled, making it almost impossible to tell which sound is left or right.)
