How To Fix Game Crash In Horizon Zero Dawn™
I spent ages trying to find and fix this problem.
I couldn’t continue one mission because the game kept crashing at a certain time and I thought I was going crazy.
However, a few tutorials and videos on the Internet helped me.So I decided to create this guide to help others with the same problem so you don’t get as frustrated and annoyed as I did.
Steam Settings
You need to run Steam as administrator + Windows 8 compatibility mode
Click the Steam shortcut – Properties – Compatibility
Scale 100%
Check your screen resolution settings. It must be 100%.
System – Display – Scale – 100%
Turn game mode on or off
System – Settings – Games – Game Mode – OFF or ON
This can be a problem for some people, so try turning it on and off.
Xbox Game Bar – OFF
System – Settings – Games – Game bar – Turn off
Virtual memory settings
Locate the Control Panel (Windows search tab), click on System and Security, then System.
– Advanced system settings
– While you are on the Advanced tab, click on the performance settings.
– Advanced tab
– Virtual memory and change the value in initial size and maximum size to (the size of your RAM) then apply and restart your computer.
Btw, choose the disc where you have the game installed.
For me, since I have 32GB of RAM, the number 32768 worked fine. This depends on your PCs RAM. For example, use 8192 for 8GB of RAM.
Game priority over normal
Don’t forget to change the priority of the game.
You have to open the game.
Task Manager – Find Horizon Zero Dawn – Right click – Go to details – Find Horizon Zero Dawn again – Set priority and select any above Normal – High or Realtime worked well for me.
Game Settings – Display
Try changing the in-game display settings to Borderless.
Open the game, go to Settings, then Display, Display Mode and select Borderless.
Turn off overclocking in Windows 10/11 + power options
Locate the Control Panel, click on the System and Security, under Power Options, and Select Balanced.
Then click on Change plan settings – Change advanced power settings – Manage CPU power – Set minimum and maximum value to 99%
That is all. Have fun!
After hours of searching, these steps helped me fix the game crash.
I hope that creating this guide and following these steps wasn’t a waste of time for either of us.
Let me know if you have any questions and if this guide helped you or not.
