F1® Manager 2024 Car Design Mechanics Guide

There is currently a problem with AI development that is being addressed. So if you think the game is easier than last year, it is

Introduction to the guide

Welcome to the 2024 version of the Car Development Guide! I will provide a breakdown of the basic mechanics and functionality of the car development system so you can become competitive and better understand what all the parts, stats, and settings mean.

If you are new to the F1 Manager series, I warn you that trying to learn these things for yourself is part of the game’s intentions, so you might spoil the experience by reading. If you are okay with this or have given it an honest try and are still confused about some aspects, please read on!

Like last year, I’m going to split this guide into two main parts; basics and breakdowns to give you the tools to get an idea of what you’re doing and an advanced section where I explain the best ways to evolve your car and specific strategies and settings that work well against the AI. I’ll repeat the spoiler warning at the beginning of the advanced section for those who don’t want to be handed the “I win” button.

I know the main chapters are very wordy, but each will be followed by a “notes” section that summarizes the main takeaways in bullet points for those who want to minimize reading

Changes from F1M23

  • The car developer’s difficulty setting was added in a late patch to last year’s game and returns here. In short, Easy means the AI will gain less expertise and Hard means it will gain increased profit.
  • Brake cooling has been renamed to tire conservation.
  • Acceleration has been removed from the main screen but still appears in the car analysis. It was removed from the single screen because you shouldn’t be dealing with it!
  • Not directly in the development of the car, but parts can go wrong at any time if you push them too hard, so cooling and durability are more important this year.
  • Also, not directly car developers but the new mentality system will give your drivers a positive or negative effect if your two cars have different parts and one is better/worse than the other
