Shovel Knight Dig Dirt Poor Achievement – This guide explains how to unlock the Dirt Poor achievement.
I wrote this because the description of success is not very clear.
I’ll explain the method I used which seems to be the most common from what I can tell.
Shovel Knight Dig Dirt Poor Achievement Guide
First you want to have Streamline Mail unlocked and equipped, you won’t have access to side paths, but it also has two effects that are in our favor:
No Golden Gears
That’s good because you won’t be able to pick up the gems from the Drill Knights capsule,
but still get free accessories after each stage.
Most monsters do not drop gems when defeated
There are plenty of situations where enemies will get in your way, killing them can end the run for their gems, getting hit will take away valuable HP we’ll need for Spore Knight.
The Process
Achieve stage selection for stage 3
Optional: Retrieving the mobile device from the capsule if you have the option before stage 3
If you have a path with a side drill sign, go for it, if not, restart until you get one.
The relevant symbols are shown above.
Remember how many gems you currently hold.
Let the big practice eliminate the gems you can’t get past, sometimes you have to be a little patient.
If you have a Mobile Gear Relic, you can also use it to clear gems, but it’s risky.
If you made it to the end and have more gems than when you started in stage 3, start over.
Before facing a boss, choose a battle relic or health, whichever makes more sense at the time.
Defeat the Spore Knight, most of your attempts you’ll be at 4 HP at best, if you’re lucky with capsules, 5, so make sure you know their movement and attack pattern.
Enter the smelter or secret fountain.
The achievement should unlock during the transition animation.
This is how I unlocked the achievement myself 07/09/2024, (DD.MM.YYYY)
on game version 1.1.5.
Points of Confusion
Description of success
Success does not mention that you must defeat the boss of the current world you are attempting to succeed in, or subsequently that you must enter one of the following areas.
One could speculate that the area boss belongs to the third phase, as that would explain why the achievement only unlocks after moving to the next area.
This was suggested by u/A_Human_Space_Heater on the r/ShovelKnight subreddit.
This was information I was missing as well and only found out through trial and error as there isn’t much out there about success.
Thanks for reading our post on Shovel Knight Dig Dirt Poor Achievement, make sure always to drop comments, and don’t also forget that suggestions are allowed.
