Map View

The map view is your source of travel in Sovereign Elect.

There are two types of nodes on the map, they are fields and nodes.

When you place your cursor on the quests you have active, you will find out which places you need to visit. To visit a node, place the cursor on it and select it.

Hubs – These resemble areas where you can find quests, shops, and other enemy encounters.

Fields – These are places where you can collect merit and where enemies can spawn. In some special cases, selected locations may contain event encounters that set up unique instances for the player.

Encounter Icons

When you first enter an area, a series of icons will appear at the top of the screen.

They are encounters that you can interact with. Below are the different types you may encounter:

Activities – Encounters with colored banners are activities that you and your mercenaries can interact with to gain merit. Merit is a resource you collect to convert into influence.

This influence you gain is your primary source of progression in the game. The color of the banner resembles 1 of 4 possible attributes.

They are Strength, Dexterity, Charisma, and Wisdom. Quests and Mercenaries will link to these banners.

Dropbox – This is your primary way to turn earned credits into influence. Influence is your primary source of currency. Your ability to hold credit is limited to the instrument you have.

Players – The anonymous figures that are present resemble other players. When you are online, you will be able to see their avatar and current mercenaries. You can change the multiplayer portrait in the system menu.

Shops – These come in a variety of designs and are only found in hub locations. Selecting this encounter will display an offer to purchase an item, mercenary, or instant service of some kind.

Enemies – These will have a health bar.

Your mercs will automatically target them, but they will also attack back.

Select these icons to deal damage to the enemy.

Note that if your visible mercenaries are taken out, you will be a target.

If you are attacked, you will lose the accumulated merits and be transported back to the starting area.

Defeating an enemy rewards tokens and activates a respawn timer.

Tokens

Tokens are usually generated in areas where merit can be collected.

When they appear, they will bounce around the center of the screen, which is the only place they will appear.

To collect a token, you must select it with the cursor.

After a short while the tokens will disappear. If you change the location, all visible coins will disappear.

There are two types of tokens you can collect: resource tokens and ability tokens.

Resource Tokens – When selected, they will be added to your inventory. Influence tokens will be added to your total collection, which is displayed on the right side of the screen. Resource Tokens often appear randomly by collecting merit, defeating enemies, or activating various mercenary abilities.

Ability Tokens – When selected, cause an effect similar to the art of the token. For example, the Snipe Ability fires an arrow at a random activity in the field, giving it a bonus value. You can learn more about these abilities by browsing the mercenary directory in the game.
