General recommendations for long combos
Most of these masteries rely on long combo chains, so I highly recommend getting the Groak weapons (Wetwhacker, Hork Fork, Splatshot, The Bog Blaster) which you can unlock from the Frenzy 1+ shop in Blisterbane Bog.
If you maximize the effect of these weapons, it will give you a +100% bonus time to sustain your combo.
However, try not to upgrade the damage of these weapons so that you can keep your combo without killing enemies.
Snortoise Armor, which you can get from The Molded Grave shops, deals damage whenever you hit the ground, which includes attacks with aerial combos and after dodging when you’re in the Heavyweight category.
This can help you build your combo, but if you’re constantly getting hit because dodging at a heavier weight class is harder for you, then I don’t recommend it.
Do not upgrade the effect as it will increase damage and kill enemies faster.
As for maps, I recommend Blisterbane Bog for maps with mothballs, especially if it’s after the miniboss Groak because then you have the added danger of stalagmites coming down with more mothballs to hit them.
Also, the Enigmox boss before he loses half his health and sends out teleport attacks is another good area to get a combo because of all the stalagmites.
A better area The Molded Grave, contains maps with plenty of Wollusk Spawns.
They move very slowly and their grenades can hit a lot, so you can get some combos in after you clear the room but leave their grenades.
For powerups, I highly recommend anything with a charge, it can rack up combo counters very quickly.
Mastery Achievements
Note: You have to do each of these quests multiple times for each mastery, but I forgot to note that before I completed them.
Hammer: Hitstreak with Fading Light
Penultimate hammer championship. This one isn’t too bad, practice comboing with Fading Light base attacks. I just did two back-to-back Fading Lights, then spammed a light-light-heavy-heavy aerial hammer combo to get 20.
Hammer: Advanced Hitstreaks
Final mastery of the hammer. This one took me the longest, but I could do it with Wetwhacker (Groak hammer) in Blisterbane Bog with a charge.
Spear: Drill Hitstreak Expert
The Last Spear Championship. For this, I used the Hork Fork (Groak spear) in Blisterbane Bog. I tried using the Barbed Pike for its extended multi-thrust attack (light-light-light-heavy) effect to extend the combo, but most enemies didn’t survive it to make it worthwhile.
Striker: Masterful Hitstreaks
Last Stand Championship. This can be stunning – take Splatshot (Groak striker) and maximize the effect. Then in any map with enemies, clear it and get a reward. You can juggle two balls against the wall with your light attacks to get a combo and it will count.
Cannon: Experienced Hitstreaks
The penultimate cannon championship. This must be done with Splintered Cannon or Hail of Glory for their Battering Ram skill. Make your weight class heavy, I recommend using Snortoise Armor for an extra hit. The heavy weight means you can spam a heavy attack without moving too far away from your enemy. I just walked up to a group of enemies then spammed skills twice and heavy six times.
Cannon: Advanced Hitstreaks
The Last Cannon Championship. I did the same as before, except I used The Bog Blaster (Groak Cannon) and did it against the Wollusk Grenades in The Molded Grave. Even with the Bog Blaster, the combo won’t just drop a perfect charge, so practice it a few times if you can’t get 50 combos with only 6 ammo.
General: Perfect Dodge Cancel
The penultimate general championship. Go to Great Rotwood Forest at Frenzy 0 with any weapon except a cannon. Just practice dodging at the last second against some beets.
General: Perfect Dodge Cancel Hit Streak
It was the last general championship. Bulbin and Iris’s armor makes spamming non-canon fun and I did this achievement quickly without trying.
