15 Fields of Mistria Beginner Tips & Tricks – I thought I’d put this list together and share some tips and tricks I wish I knew when I first started playing and some things I’ve learned along the way.
15 Fields of Mistria Beginner Tips & Tricks
The magical farming game Fields of Mistria launches tomorrow!!
If you’re looking to visit the enchanting world of Mistria this week, I’ve put together some beginner tips and tricks from the first few hours of the game to help you get started.
#1 – Equipment
Unlike other farming games, you don’t get all your tools in your hands at the start of the game. Instead, you’ll gradually collect them over time by completing quests and even buying from shops.Being an adventurer, you wake up with your sword and trail mix on your first day in the Fields of Mistria, but that’s about it!
Soon you will get a watering can and hoe the beautiful Celine and Hayden, which means you can start farming!
The next day you unlock your ax through a cutscene with Eiland where you help him clear a tree to reveal a strange statue – more on that later.
You can also get your pickaxe on day two if you visit the Quest Board and accept the “Do a Bro a Favor” quest! Go talk to Olric and after a short cutscene where he gives you tips on how to get a buff, you’ll leave with a pickaxe in hand!
A few days later, on the 4th of Spring, you’ll find another quest on the quest board, this time called “Something’s Bugging Me”. All you have to do is head to the inn and meet up with Luc, who will kindly give you his old bug net.
And that’s sadly all for the gear you can unlock through quests. To get your spade and fishing rod, you will have to collect enough money to buy them from the shop.
You can buy a fishing rod from Terethia’s shop on the beach on the southwest side of the map for 500t. You can pick up your spade from the general store in town for 500t.
OR if you don’t mind waiting and don’t want to spend money, there is another way!
Instead of buying worn equipment at the beginning of the game, wait until you unlock the mines and collect all the copper!
Then you can make copper versions of your copper tools and you don’t need basic tools to do it!
This is a great way to save money as copper tools are cheaper than basic tools at only 480 each and there is so much copper in the lower levels of the mines that it will be easy to do early game.
While we’re talking about gear, your inventory can be a bit full since you only start with 10 inventory slots. So, head to the general store and pick up the 1000-bag upgrade! It’s a little expensive, but you’ll need it.
#2 – Manufacturing
The way Fields of Mistria handles crafting is really elegant. Instead of having to spend all your resources building all the different crafting benches, you can use the ones in town!
So in the early game, if you need to craft something, you can head to the kitchen at the Sleeping Dragon Inn and cook your meals, the woodworking bench by what I think is the church or the carpentry shop, and the workbench outside. from Kováří for your metalwork.
Best of all, the benches pull out of your storage chest, so you don’t even have to carry all your supplies with you! Also, all crafting benches are already loaded with recipes that you can craft instead of having to unlock them over time. There are new blueprints that you can unlock later, but there are already some that you can craft, including important copper tools and even furniture for your house!
#3 – Fences
Speaking of crafts, one of the things you can make at the carpenter’s bench is fences! They cost 10 wood to make, and if you like your garden to look tidy, you’ll want to build one.
This is because weeds and debris on your farm will regenerate fairly quickly over time and can reappear on your farmed land as well. But if you build fences around it, they won’t be able to grow on it.
#4 – Jumping
My next tip might be one of my favorite things because this never happens in farming sims – you can jump in Fields of Mistria! This will change everything and make it much easier to get around.
You’ll find this so useful when you’re traveling the mines because instead of having to break every single rock to get to the items you want, you can just jump over them and go straight there.
It is also very useful when it comes to farm navigation. Instead of having to chop every branch and break every rock to make your way through your property, you can just skip!
#5 – Swimming
Jumping also leads very nicely to tip number five, which took me way too long to figure out! This tip is all about swimming, because yes, you can swim in the Fields of Mistria, and it’s cool.
It’s much easier to get around because you can just jump across the river to get to where you want to go instead of having to run to the bridge. This is especially useful when trying to get a pesky fish that swims from side to side.
You’ll also want to keep an eye out for these dive spots popping up around town, don’t confuse them with fishing spots. If you spot one, just jump into the water, swim up, and dive into it to collect different items like water sources, fish, and more!
#6 – Shells for the money
Speaking of swimming, it makes sense to also talk about the beach, which is located on the southwest side of town right next to your farm.
If you can, I’d recommend heading to the beach, as just like in Stardew Valley, various seashells wash up on its shores, which you can then sell for around 20 each.
#7 – Quest Board
Another great way to earn money is the Quest Board, which you can find right next to the general store!
I would recommend checking your task board every day because you always have a new task to do. But if you miss a day, don’t worry because the quests don’t expire so you can pick them up the next day and there is no time limit after accepting the quest.
Every night when you go to bed, the game calculates how much renown you’ve earned by selling items, completing quests, and donating to the museum.
As you gain notoriety, you increase the prestige of your city and earn new rewards for each level you reach. These rewards can be collected from a chest next to the quest board.
#8 – Character Customization
Some quests will reward you with clothing parts that will unlock a full set in multiple colors to choose from!
And you can access them all from the menu!
No need to waste resources on making them or building a wardrobe. You can change any part of your appearance anytime, anywhere, which I think is a nice addition to the game for people who love to customize their character.
#9 – Skills
At the end of the second day, you will be visited in your dreams by a strange dragon who will teach you how to increase your abilities. By doing all of your typical farming activities like farming, fishing, mining, logging, and gathering, you’ll collect essences that you can use to upgrade your skills.
Each skill has different abilities that you can purchase with your elements, and as you level up your skills, you can also unlock even more abilities for purchase.
#10 – Stamina Regen
While doing all these activities, you might get a little tired. The good news is that there are several places in the Fields of Mistria to restore stamina!
The first and most obvious location is Juniper’s Bath House, where you can fully recharge by taking a dip! It’s very relaxing, the only downside is that it costs 100 tons.
But through one of the quests on the quest board, I was able to unlock five free visits to the spa, so complete your quests!
The second place where you can restore your stamina is The Sleeping Dragon Inn. The family there is lovely and has a bubbling pot of stew on the go for anyone who needs a little pick-me-up during the day. It only restores 20 stamina, which isn’t nearly as much as a spa, but it’s completely free to use!
The last place I found for you (anyway) to regain energy requires a copper pickaxe to get to.
On the northeast side of the map, you’ll see a path heading north toward the Deep Woods. In the early game, it will be blocked by this huge rock that you can’t get past until you unlock the copper pickaxe.
Once you break through you will find another small clearing and in the middle of it right next to the broken stairs to the Deep Forest is a small fountain full of clear water. Interacting with him will create a little prompt asking if you want a drink, and if you do, you’ll be rewarded with 20 stamina!
#11 – The Magic Well
There is ANOTHER area you can unlock on the east side of the map as well that also has a cool item to discover.
There’s a similar large boulder on the southeast side of the map that you can break, and once you go through you’ll find a well with two wyvern heads on either side.
Interacting with the well will prompt you to donate money with the option of 100 or 500 gold. The catch is that you can only do this once per day.
I rolled in 100 gold the first day and got some ruby, then the next few days I went ahead and rolled in 500 both days which gave me a Berry Bowl recipe and some fried rice.
#12 – Archaeology
If you go as far east as you can on the map, you will find yourself at the Archeologist’s Site. There’s not much you can do here, but at the bottom of the screen, there’s a tent surrounded by supplies and a small sandy trench where all the archeological activity is likely to take place.
The thing is, I assumed it was all just decoration and there was nothing to do. But it turns out that you can dig up these little mounds in an archaeological area and unearth treasure for a museum!
There is a whole package dedicated to this and it took me until day 15 to realize it!
#13 – Mines
Just like in Stardew Valley, the mines are not open when you first arrive in town.
But on the 6th of spring, you will receive a letter that will start the quest to reopen the mines. You’ll soon find out that you need to reach the rank of Stone to open them again. I managed it on day 8, but it will vary from person to person depending on how you spend your time in the game.
Once you open the mines you’ll find it’s very similar to Stardew where the elevator is broken. Unfortunately, this means that the only way you can go down the mine is to use a ladder. But if you make it to the elevator shaft (every 5 levels), you can create a checkpoint that you can quickly jump to on future visits.
#14 – MAGIC!
As you progress further down, you’ll also unlock one of the things that excited me most about this game – magic!
I won’t give you any spoilers about it because it’s fun to discover yourself, but if you want to discover the magic, continue down!
#15 – Saturday market
For our final tip, I’ll tell you about the Saturday Market! Every Saturday, once you repair the bridge, there will be a Saturday market in the square with four new villagers to meet!
Four stalls offer you new foods and recipes, new hairstyles and accessories, new clothes, and new furniture. But it’s important to note that their inventory changes every week, so if you see something you like, be sure to collect it before it’s gone!
